IS REAL ESTATE DIFFICULT?

"REAL ESTATE"  People ask what the hardest part of being a REALTOR.  I alway say there are two things:

    1. Getting Started -  It's difficult because no knows or can remember that you have changed your profession.  I can't tell you how many people in my sphere of influence that bought and sold homes with other REALTORS and when I asked them if they considered using me, they would say, "I'm so sorry I forgot you were a REALTOR.  Yes it takes time to rebrand yourself as a "Go to real estate agent".

     2.  It's a difficult first year, financially.  So many things are against you (such as); there are currently 666 licensed real estate agents in Cowlitz County.  There are lots of costs associated with branding yourself and paying for desk fees.  A normal real estate transaction takes 30-45 day before it closes which means you have no paycheck for 30-45 days.  Studies show that only 2 out of 10 real estate agents make it past the first year.  I understand why.

But over time, with hard work and a clear plan, people will see you in the store, at church, walking the lake, etc and they will alway ask,  "Jerry how is the Real Estate market right now?"  I always respond with a big smile, so grateful that they asked and that they now know me as a REALTOR.
